Fashion mess of the week

Published by Admin under Tabloid Tuesday

Lea Michele was possibly still thinking it was Gaga week on Glee when she stepped out in this mess on her way to the launch of hairstylist Mark Townsend website/magazine http://www.marktbeauty.com/ The whole outfit seemed too much. Too much fluff, too much skin, too much bangs,  too much nude color but not enough fashion. We love this girl to pieces but this outfit deserves a fine.

Fashion diva of the week

Published by Admin under Tabloid Tuesday

Jennifer Lopez was looking stunning the other night in a Gianfranco Ferré dress  while rocking Sergio Rossi pumps. The hair, the dress, the smile is all fantastic. The sparkling beauty looked to be poured into the dress fitting her body perfectly. The neck line really brings out her…features without making them too skanky. She also looks happier than ever. Bravo JLo, keep on rocking the glam.

Myspace is cool again?

Published by Admin under Music Monday

Well, maybe not cool again yet but I found some new interesting stuff they’ve been doing while I was away. Myspace began as a place for artists to get their music out to the public and to get noticed by record labels. Countless artists were discovered on myspace such as Taylor Swift, Soulja Boy, Boys Like Girls, Sean Kingston,Kate Voguele, The Veronicas and Colbie Caillat to name a few.

They now have this cool Karaoke feature that makes it even easier for people without high tech recording equipment to get their voices heard. You can go HERE to check it out.

I’ve been playing with it all morning and it really does come out sounding great. I know we have some inspiring artists reading this so go check it out. Here’s a tip if you have a laptop take it in your bathroom it sounds great in there, ha.

Right now they are having a contest for a chance to fly out to meet Miranda Lambert or get a signed guitar from her! The details are on the site just sing one of her songs and submit. I plan on submitting something this week for fun. I’ll make sure to post it here.

Now all you songbirds get out there and sing your hearts out. Don’t forget to send a link to your stuff to me. I’ll post them on here as well! Good luck and enjoy.

Best Fallback Summer Workout

Published by Admin under Fitness Friday

When you’re feeling too sore, or having joint pain, try swimming. Swimming works all of your muscles with out putting strain on any part of your body. It also helps build your endurance and build up your lung capacity as well Swimming is one of the best, and in my opinion most fun exercises to do, and since it’s summer, nothing should be stopping any of us!

Tips for a Positive New Year

Published by Admin under Fitness Friday

This one was shared with Becoming The You from Trish, one of our readers and followers.

20 Tips for a Positive New Year
I know we’re a quarter of the way in already, but I just found this. These are still good reminders and I thought I would share:

20 Tips for a Positive New Year
by: Jon Gordon

1. Stay Positive. You can listen to the cynics and doubters and believe that success is impossible or you can know that with faith and an optimistic attitude all things are possible.

2. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement: My purpose is_______________________.

3. Take a morning walk of gratitude. It will create a fertile mind ready for success.

4. Instead of being disappointed about where you are think optimistically about where you are going.

5. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.

6. Transform adversity into success by deciding that change is not your enemy but your friend. In the challenge discover the opportunity.

7. Make a difference in the lives of others.

8. Believe that everything happens for a reason and expect good things to come out of challenging experiences.

9. Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.

10. Mentor someone and be mentored by someone.

11. Live with the 3 E’s. Energy, Enthusiasm, Empathy.

12. Remember there’s no substitute for hard work.

13. Zoom Focus. Each day when you wake up in the morning ask: “What are the three most important things I need to do today that will help me create the success I desire?” Then tune out all the distractions and focus on these actions.

14. Instead of complaining focus on solutions. It’s the key to innovation.

15. Read more books than you did in 2009. I happen to know of a few good ones.

16. Learn from mistakes and let them teach you to make positive changes.

17. Focus on “Get to” vs “Have to.” Each day focus on what you get to do, not what you have to do. Life is a gift not an obligation.

18. Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements:

I am thankful for __________.

Today I accomplished____________.

19. Smile and laugh more. They are natural anti-depressants.

20. Enjoy the ride. You only have one ride through life so make the most of it and enjoy it.

If you cant feed 100 people just feed 1.

Published by Admin under Spiritual Sunday

Each day I go to work I pass the Salvation Army soup kitchen. I look at the people and know, that could so easy be me or someone in my family. I see a young man or woman and I think that is someone’s child, someone once held them in their arms and wished for the world for them. They used to have someone to take care of them. But now they roam the streets and as we pass we look away not wanting to make eye contact.
We’ve all done it but how sad our world’s become. I was reading a quote from Mother Teresa, who I’ve always had such a large amount of respect for, even after her death she did not look away she looked with in the heart and saw the good part of people.
She said “If you can’t feed a hundred people just feed one.” Remember our food pantries, most cities have them, even most Churches don’t look away, remember someone once took care of you so pay it forward remember what you cast upon the water of life it will comeback to you in ways you would never dream of. Have a wonderful week.

Just Breathe

Published by Admin under Fitness Friday

This tip seems obvious-breathe when you exercise, but how many of us actually remember to breathe? I sure don’t; there are actually times when I am working out that I can feel myself holding my breathe. Why? I have no idea, and I’ve been working hard to fix this. Your body needs to be oxygenated, especially while you’re working out. It helps your heart create a steady beat and pace to keep you active throughout your whole work out, and it keeps your muscles from getting sore or tired too quickly.

Peace, love, life,

Ashley

The Positives from Becoming The You

Published by Admin under Fitness Friday

Another inspiring quote from Baz Luhrmann’s Everybody Must Wear Sunscreen

Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying
is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum.
The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your
worried mind; the kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday
.

Worrying seems to be second nature for most of us; we worry about getting places on time, whether things will work out or not, and where will will be in a year, five, or ten. This is a piece of advice that I definitely need to take to heart. I am about to graduate and all I seem to do when I don’t busy myself is worry about my job situation, and where I will be come May 16. This worrying has taken a huge toll on me-I’ve lost sleep and have come near ruining a very dear friendship. The dark side of worrying is scary, especially when your worry becomes too much to bear. Even though I worry-a lot, I am a huge believer in “shit happens” and “right time-right place”, as well as “everything happens for a reason”. I know, I am so cliche, but when I do finally get myself to relax and be rational again, I look at the way things in my life have fallen into place so far and realize that these things are true. Some shit does have to happen in order for you to appreciate the good and learn from the bad, and the shit is going to happen; worrying about it won’t get you anywhere. As with everything, going in with a positive attitude; maybe saying Okay, if this doesn’t work out, I still have options and back up. Yes, you’ve got to give yourself those options and backup, but having them, and thinking positively about situations will help you throw your worries away for a while. With less worry, you will be able to see the positive things in life and be able to appreciate them, as they are making your life worth it, in spite of all the worries and uncertainty that you have. Please, don’t let those worries keep you from living your life.

Here are some positives that were sent to us:

I had a blast with the best today, got my nails and toes done, and bought the 3rd movie in my fave series :) -Stacy

I got to cross off something off of my list of things I need to buy.-E.B.

I talked to friends I haven’t seen in forever-Bertina

Just a nice day

Published by Admin under Spiritual Sunday

Have you ever had one of those “Just a Nice Day” days? I had one today.
My husband and I went to work on this little house that is for
his mother, who will be moving into it later this year. It needed a lot of work and love.
His mom was so proud of the progress we made with his sister today. She was so thankful her family cares enough to do some hard work, without asking anything in return.
I watched my husband and his sister laugh and reminisce with each other. The smile his mother had was priceless, seeing her grown kids acting like children again.
It was like watching a picture as you painted it, the more you paint the
better it looked and the better you felt. Helping someone in need is such a wonderful feeling and so very rewarding. All along knowing what you do for others and not asking anything in return will always be a master piece in the eyes of the person you helped. Their not looking for perfect, just love.
So I didn’t have a earth shaking day but it was “Just a Nice Day”.

Have a Wonderful Week
Vanessa
