Am I the only one who sees humor in this picture? American Idol first debuted in 2002 with judges Simon, Randy and Paula. No, there wasn’t a Kara or an Ellen, hell Ryan Seacrest was a nobody then. The first season had talents like Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini. It was something that America had never seen before and the beginning of the dreaded “Reality T.V.” monster that we are all subjected to today. Simon took America by storm with his brittish insults and blade like tongue. I believe that he was realities first ever bad guy. Paula was the loving judge who dished out a compliment at any cost. Randy was a fat ass “it was kinda pitchy” judge. Ryan Seacrest looked like a reject boy band member and has now become a Hollywood sensation and one of the hardest working men in the business. This was American Idol at its purest.

September 11th, 2001 will for ever be engraved in the minds of America. It was at this moment that people forgot about race, class, and sexuality. This was the moment that the U.S. would change, the moment that stripped the American people naked and exposed us to the world. Now our trips on planes are like going to court, our phones can be tapped and Big Brother is watching more than ever. We all remember where we were and what we were doing. I just couldn’t not mention this.

From the threat of Y2k to the attack that was 911. The “Bush Years” to American Idol. The overuse of Reality T.V. to the” death” of hip hop and the rebirth of rock n roll. The “Britney’s meltdown” to the Whitney comeback. The Tiger Woods scandal to the  and financial instability and recession. To first black president this country and generation has had its share of ups and downs. Damn 2000’s that’s what’s up!
